Species Use Database

Improving knowledge and understanding of how wild species are used, where they are used, if that use is sustainable or unsustainable, and what impacts that use is having

We provide information that aims to reflect all the diverse ways in which wild species are used by billions of people globally, and the various factors that have been documented that influence the sustainability of the use

The purpose of the Species Use Database is to collect information from as wide a range of species and use regimes as possible, including published evidence about sustainability, but NOT to provide a formal assessment of whether use is sustainable (or of the quality of any evidence recorded). Any determination of sustainability presented in the record is based solely on the author(s) conclusions. Learn more about us
